My desire to learn and do something new each day includes helping people at a really high level is what drew me to real estate. Every day is different and so are each of my clients’ needs. I’m not one to enjoy stillness unless I’m doing yoga! As the only female Olympian in the Park City and Heber Valley real estate community, I am proud of how my tenacity, grit and determination serve my clients. I don’t give up. Simple as that. I honed this skill as a female ski jumper determined to realize my Olympic dreams. I was raised in Park City. At that time, Salt Lake was bidding for the 2002 Olympics and had built a couple of ski jumps at what’s now the Utah Olympic Park. From the first time I caught air, I was in love with the thrill and adrenaline rush. I told my parents I wanted to go to the Olympics. Fast forward 20 years and I’d won almost every competition I could including being the first World Champion, 16 time National Champion and had even been the first woman to go ski flying in Norway. Despite all these accomplishments, my Olympic dream could not be realized as my sport didn’t allow women to compete. So, as the ‘old lady’ of the sport I was the face of our organization in a lawsuit against the Canadian Olympic Committee. We didn’t win that, but the IOC finally acquiesced and allowed our sport into the Games. You can watch the documentary Ready to Fly on most streaming services to learn more. Going to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games was a key bucket list achievement for sure. Unfortunately, a bad landing and my 9th knee surgery forced me to retire in 2015. Because I traveled internationally for 20 years, it took me almost 14 to graduate from the University of Utah. While my degree in Kinesiology helps me understand my personal training objectives, the thought of being inside a clinic all day just wasn’t appealing. My dad and stepmother were both real estate professionals and since I’d held a license since 2004, I decided to explore the opportunity. That was 4 years ago, and I’ve never looked back. I am a student of the market, studying it every morning. I love negotiating on my clients’ behalf. In today’s competitive buyers’ market, don’t you need an Olympic-caliber negotiator working for you? Intense daily exercise is still what works best to clear my mind and think through challenges. On your behalf, I’ll likely be alpine skiing, skate skiing or mountain biking to develop the best negotiating strategies.
